Sustainable Buildings Program Summary
Colorado State University’s Sustainable Buildings education abroad program in Costa Rica focuses on the principal components of sustainable design and construction, energy, healthy buildings, natural resources, and other environmental issues. Students will increase their awareness of sustainable practices by:
- Examining building systems for public health issues
- Explore examples of notable sustainable practice case studies, especially sites in Costa Rica
- Familiarize oneself with decision-making processes based on sustainable practices
Involve students in a practical, sustainable design project to further the research and development of sustainable building
Costa Rica Faculty Leader
Dr. Rodolfo Valdes Vasquez is an associate professor in Construction Management at CSU. Rodolfo conducts research in sustainable construction and design, higher education, teaching methods and construction engineering.
Program and application information
Students in the program will travel to Guácimo, Costa Rica.
