Touring the Powerhouse
The Living Story of the Powerhouse

The Powerhouse is rare in how it works with renewable energy research, and allows outsiders to see the inside. Guided tours take the public through the state-of-the-art facilities, allowing them to see the research that takes place. Virtual tours are also available, with separate videos existing of the various labs within the campus as well as giving historical background and other information about the facilities.
These tours, led by Student Ambassadors working within the Powerhouse, take visitors through the ongoing research taking place in the building, while also explaining past research and the effects the facility has had on energy production thus far. Ambassadors take the time to highlight important features of the building and the work done to ensure the facility is as eco-friendly as possible, allowing for visitors to see the revolutionary nature of the Powerhouse. Visitors are taken through real labs where groundbreaking solutions to global energy and environmental challenges are being developed.
Additionally, the undergraduate and graduate students who lead tours help show the emphasis the Powerhouse has put on student involvement. If a prospective student is interested in the work the Powerhouse does, a tour is a great place to start to learn more and gain the opportunity to speak with a current student.
