Environmental Impacts and Resource Management

Worldwide, there are 2.6 billion people who use biomass like wood or dung for cooking and heating. This combustion process results in indoor air pollution that kills one person every 20 seconds. There are also 1.8 billion people don’t have access to electricity. Each day, these numbers grow – and as they do, we see poverty become more entrenched, delivery of social services become more difficult, opportunities for women become more limited, and environmental sustainability become increasingly threatened on a global level.
The Energy Institute is making a difference by working to address the energy challenges of the developing world through developing and distributing efficient clean energy solutions to those who need it most.
