From Fairs to Classrooms
Energy Education on the Move
August 29, 2025 | Lucy Estergard | Back to Powerhouse Post
The Powerhouse’s Mobile Classroom has interacted with many students and families through its programming. The team behind the classroom is continuing to reach out to educators in the area and working to connect with various researchers throughout the Energy Institute.
Recently, they have made appearances at the Larimer County Fair, as well as other County fairs throughout Colorado.
Summer 2025 Season

There is also new content in development, with two new labs being created to teach clean energy to the general public. One lab deals with the complex topic of air quality and how manmade pollution and air masses change the air quality. The other new lab navigates the photosynthesis-driven process of soil carbon sequestration, using a game of kerplunk to help students visualize the process.
The truck is being updated for organization and increased ease of education, making it easier for the educators and the students to learn and utilize the space to its full potential.
In addition, they will continue to work with the Poudre Library District and the Larimer County Food Bank to be at the lunch stops when school is out of session. They hope to coordinate with 4-H and County Extension offices to bring this educational experience to less-accessible communities like the Eastern Plains of Colorado.
The Mobile Classroom is excited to continue its partnership with the Platte River Power Authority and Efficiency Works and to have worked with Whizkid and CSU Spur. The Classroom will be making an appearance at Open Streets and EnergyFest in September.
The Mobile Classroom team is excitedly getting ready for their next full season beginning in the fall. They hope to make clean energy education accessible for parents as well as their children. More information regarding how to bring the Mobile Classroom to your event or school can be found on the Powerhouse website.
